Over 70 years ago Tony Gianunzio was ready to make his dream a reality and start a major-league baseball career with the Cubs before he joined the Coast Guards. Late into the war Tony realized that he wanted to attend college to pursue his love of teaching. His students got in contact with the Cubs and Tony was invited to through the out the first pitch. It had been 45 years since he had thrown a ball but Tony said “It feels just like 1942 when I could do it.”
