“My husband was returning from his 4th deployment. We wanted the homecoming to be extra special for our 3 children so we kept it a secret. As far as they knew, we were there to welcome home the single Marines and Sailors and the woman taking our photos was from the news. When the buses pulled into the parking lot, my children held me tight and my son said, “I wish my daddy was on that bus too.” I held them tight and we all wished really hard that it would be his turn soon.
