“Back in January of 2012, My husband was due to come home from a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan. We had previously discussed surprising our boys, ages 1 & 3. Since they were so young, we decided the airport was the best location. We told my 3-year-old that we were going to a birthday party for the airplanes. The balloons, flags, etc. helped sell the idea. Now, we’re currently on deployment #2, and setting our sights on another homecoming surprise. However, the airplane birthday will have to retire this year!” –Kimberly Satrom
