Arkansas Army National Guard Mellissa Mulligan returned from deployment after nearly a year away to surprise her kids at school. As Mellissa held her son and daughter tight, their principal couldn’t fight back tear from watching the joyous reunion. After the tears were wiped away, Mellissa presented the school with a flag to show her appreciation to the school and the community as well.
Mulligan said, “The flag was given as a sign of appreciation for the school and community for watching over my children while I was deployed in support of the Mosul liberation. It was flown on a Blackhawk helicopter over Iraq on Sept. 12th 2016. I am proud of my community and I may have been the one deployed but I could not have done it without the support from home.”
