Nearly 200,000 people came to enjoy the Tulip Time celebration in Pella, Iowa. When it came time for the parade, Ruth Bushnell and her family made sure that they had a good spot to see the floats.
Hoping, but not expecting that next year her son might be a part of the festivities, Ruth was elated to see her son, Army Sgt. Brian Bushnell, his wife and 10 month-old-daughter on a military float.
Being stationed in Germany since 2014 and around the world since 2010, this was Sgt. Bushnell’s first Tulip Time in seven years. Ruth couldn’t contain the joy of having him by her side made her feel so the tears much like her happiness were endless.
