U.S. Army combat engineer Francois Clerfe took advantage of a special policy that allowed him to return home for the delivery of his firstborn. It took him two days, 10 connections and more than 1,000 miles of flying time, but he made it in time to see his daughter, Julia Clerfe, born in Monterey.
