Dyrall Phelps has severed in the Army and Navy for the past 20 years. Five years ago, his daughter, Mariah was diagnosed with myopathy after taking a steroid that was used to treat a sinus infection. The disease weakened the muscles in Mariah’s legs until she was reduced to using a wheelchair to get around. Now Mariah is not only walking but she joined her school’s track team, competing in the 100-meter dash. Dyrall returning from Germany was more than just a reunion, it was the first time he’d see his little girl run.
