National Guard Staff Sergeant Cory Hinkle jumped in to action when he saw head on collision on his way home from work. SSgt Hinkle helped Brandy Guin escape her van that was leaking gas, moments before it went up in flames.
While SSgt. Hinkle was just doing what he was trained to do, Brandy felt that he went beyond the call of duty. She told The Shelby Star that “it takes a lot for a person to lay down their body and protect someone they’ve never met. There’s not a lot of people out there like him.”
