“When my friend Connie Elaine introduced me to Sherry and Bobby Evans – a military family from Southern California – I knew I wanted to do something kind for them, I just didn’t know what. When I spoke to Bobby, I learned about their struggles not only as a married couple living apart while he is stationed in Washington but also everything else that comes with being a soldier.
SO because I love the element of surprise, Bobby and I teamed up to pull a fast one on his wife. She thought I was just showing up at her house to interview her about what it’s like to be the wife of someone in the armed forces. BUT instead, I surprised her with a trip to Washington to bring her, Bobby, and their son Quentin together for their military family weekend over July 4.
This family makes A LOT of sacrifices so Bobby can serve our country. It was an incredible experience reuniting them so they could spend some quality time together to share positive memories up in Seattle.
It takes a literal army to pull something like this off, so I want to thank everyone who helped me reunite the Evans family.
The team at Alaska Airlines for providing flights.
The team at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle for providing a night stay and dinner at their new restaurant the Outlier.
Laura Lawson Visconti and Kristin Luna for being such awesome connectors.
Justin Walter for letting me use your GoPro.
Spencer Spellman for additional footage + being a great cheerleader.
Connie Elaine for facilitating the connection with the Evans family.
