School library media assistant Tami Clark at Brush College Elementary School read a picture book called “Hero Dad” by Melinda Hardin during a school assembly. The book is about a young boy who believes his father is a superhero. When Clark came to the conclusion about the boy welcoming home his father — who is not a comic-book caped crusader but rather a proud U.S. soldier Sgt. McCreery, also in fatigues, walked to the center of the library, home from a yearlong deployment that included nine months in Kabul, Afghanistan.
