A little rain wasn’t going to delay this homecoming.
The Jacksonville Suns home game was postponed due to the weather, but the first pitch still went on as planned, just under a covered area at the baseball grounds of Jacksonville. Master Chief Petty Officer Mike Ball’s son had the honor of throwing the first pitch.
According to Action News Jax, Ball, who arrived at Naval Station Mayport Monday from a seven and-a-half month deployment on the USS Iwo Jima, was set to surprise his son by catching the ball. Even though they didn’t recognize him at first, once Ball removed his mask he was embraced by son and daughters.
Nice job by the @SunsBaseball to get that surprise in despite the game being rained out. pic.twitter.com/avSqBvXHc4
