“Two years ago we rescued a small little red tick coon hound from Whiteville, NC – severely emaciated, high medical needs and fearful of humans. You know the story – we see it every day. Foster and medical care – dog begins to look for a forever home.
Barnaby met Rachel last year at a classic car show. It was love at first sight. Barnaby and Rachel began bonding. As most military personnel, Rachel faced deployment and didn’t want to promise Barnaby a family, a home because she knew she would have to give him up. When we saw the love the both of them have for one another our rescue agreed to take Barnaby whenever Rachel went on deployment if it meant she and Barnaby had a future together.
Seven months ago Rachel & Barnaby had their first deployment and separation. Today – mom came home and Barnaby was there when the plane landed! It was amazing to see them run across the tarmac to one another – Barnaby snuggled right up to his mom – he didn’t forget her!
Barnaby won the hearts of Rachel’s unit & is back home tonight with his mom. Our rescue is beyond honored to have made this possible. Thank you for your service Rachel – Thank you for your dedication to our country. Thank you for loving a throw away hound and giving him what he so genuinely needed …. you.” –Michele Higham
