Teagan Ketchum is a senior from Averill Park, N.Y. on the Sacred Heart University women’s ice hockey team. Her brother Trevor is a Petty Officer Second Class and has been deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and they haven’t seen each other in 14 months. Trevor has only seen Teagan play in one collegiate hockey game.
The team hosted a Military Appreciation game several weeks ago and Teagan was devastated that he wasn’t about to be there for the game – convincing herself that he would be.
The family arranged a flight home for Trevor to be present for the Pioneers NEHC Tournament Game. Following the national anthem, Trevor was the surprise ceremonial puck drop, with Teagan taking the face-off for the Pioneers.
