Reluctant WWII Veteran brought to tears by recognition

Trying to put the past to rest, WWII Navy veteran Edwin Schmidt, 92, didn’t want the honor. But as he accepted tribute gifts by military representatives at his home for his “buddies that didn’t come back”, Schmidt was unable to fight back tears.
