A Detroit police officer was surprised by her Army son at work- and the whole thing was a joint effort between the soldier and the higher-ups at Detroit PD.
DPD Officer Nicole Laubert -who had not seen her son, Private Ross Hood for nearly a year- was called into an office Tuesday, where she found three senior DPD members and a suspect wearing a heavy black coat.
At first observation, Laubert thought the three assistant chiefs were questioning the suspect in some sort of investigation.
“This is a little more serious than I initially thought,” Assistant Chief James White told Laubert. “So, we’ve got a witness to the problem. Laubert, can you come over and take his statement please?”
Walking up to the suspect, she stopped in her tracks as she cocked her head in bewilderment.
Surprised, she shares an embrace with her son, which was recorded live on the Detroit Police Department Facebook Page.
“Merry Christmas,” her coworkers said.
According to Mlive, Private Hood serves in Grafenwoehr, Germany, with the Second Cavalry Regiment.
