After a yearlong deployment to Africa, over 100 National Guard soldiers received a police escort to the National Guard Readiness Center and were welcomed with love in various forms.
For Sgt. 1st Class Roger Roache it was holding 3-month-old Leandro for the first time since birth. Born premature, S1C Roache had to return to tour before little Leandro was permitted to come home. “I can’t wait to get home, so I can get some more time with him,” he told WSVN.
Ana Rivero-Marin prepared a feast for the return of her son. She listed just a few dishes from the menu “Chuleta, arroz congrí, yuca, because we are Cuban!” she said.
