In April 2012 Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills lost portions of both his arms and legs to an IED in Afghanistan and even though he’s no longer in a war zone, every day is a battle. His attitude toward life is what has inspired 11-year-old Sage Fortin to write an essay that won first place in a contest and caught SSgt. Mills attention. Sage received a surprise visit from her hero at school where SSgt. Mills got to hear her read the essay aloud.
