Gunnery Sergeant Geann Pereira was awarded the highest non-combat medal for heroism in the Marine Corps for rescuing people from a crashed helicopter in Kabul, Afghanistan. Pereira climbed into the helicopter and pulled people from the wreckage, saving lives.
