Since it launched in 2016, Helping Heroes Fly, a nonprofit dedicated to helping military women and men fly home when they need it the most, has assisted 163 active duty members.
Word has quickly spread about the organization and it has drained their budget. Just as the most wonderful time of year is approaching, Helping Heroes Fly had to stop accepting applications.
Co-founder Pam Matt told CBS Denver “We just this week had to close them because we got 31 requests in one day and that pretty much depleted the funds.”
Attempting to gain funding, Helping Heroes Fly has been fundraising. But they are hoping that donors will help make this holiday special for the men and women that so graciously sacrifice so much all year long.
Helping Heroes Fly has a list of ways to help here.
