Serving in the Army together as paratroopers taught Kai Johns and Robert Harmon to rely on each other and to be there for your brother, but they never thought they would be applying those lesson after 16 years of not seeing each other. When Johns became sick, doctors determined that both of his kidneys had failed and he would need a kidney transplant. He reached out on Facebook with a note about his situation and Harmon responded asking how to get started to see if he was a match. Harmon said he would have gladly done the same for any of his other close Army brother or sisters.
Although there are no words to express his appreciation, John is beyond grateful to have a friend like Harmon and a supportive family. John’s family set up a website for donations to help with the costly surgery and the ongoing medical expenses he will incur throughout his life to prevent rejection of the kidney. With the goal set at $75,000 they’re almost half way there. You can make a donation by clicking here.
