After serving two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Operation Desert Storm, Rafael Taft came home to serve his community as a Grand Prairie Police Officer. It was in October when he was nominated to receive a new car at the “Save Our Heroes” concert. But the car wasn’t just to make sure he could get to and from work but rather to help the single dad improve Sunday’s life, his 5-year-old daughter with special needs.
Sunday was diagnosed with diagnosed with dystonia, tracheomalacia and petit ganglia and just endured her 20th surgery.
Taft told CBS DFW how Sunday had to be lifted into a car seat that she was growing out of and her wheel chair didn’t fit in the trunk, so having the vehicle modified by United Access and BraunAbility will facilitate her transportation to and from doctor appointments and trips to the park.
