Chief Warrant Officer 3 Joseph Shiver Jr. was inspired by his dad to begin his military career in aviation twenty years ago. The two even worked in the same unit for a few years but they had never flown together. For his final flight, CW3 Shiver thought what better way to retire than with the man who encouraged him to be a pilot and who he’s looked up to all his life.
“I called him up and I said, ‘Dad, I want you to fly with me on my last flight, because you started my career and I want you to end my career with me,'” CW3 Shiver told WLTX. “He’s always wanted to fly with me so I’m just proud they allowed this to happen for me and my dad.”
