Elijah Jones was called out as “Most Improved” at a reading event in his school library. But the biggest surprise came when his godfather, Staff Sergeant Jarayle Williams, who is a father figure to Elijah, came home from Afghanistan and was able to present the award to him. It’s been 2 years since Elijah has seen Sgt. Williams, a twelve-year veteran, in person.
